Antonius Wilde

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Antonius Wilde , also Anthonius Wilde , (* before 1575 , † around 1618 ) was a German organ builder in Otterndorf .

Little is known about the life of Antonius Wilde. 1587–1590 he was Hans Scherer the Elder's master journeyman . From 1593 he appeared as a self-employed master organ builder. After the new organ was built in Otterndorf, he settled there. He married in Otterndorf and acquired citizenship of the city in 1600 . The assistants Hans Bockelmann and an Antonius (Moitzen?) Have been proven in the construction of the new organ in Wöhrden . Wilde's effectiveness is concentrated on the organ landscape between the Elbe and Weser . A total of four new organs are attested. The structure of his renaissance organs follows the principle of the work as it was further developed by the Scherer family of organs , and they finally break with the Gothic tradition of block work .
