history

At the end of the 18th century the parish village of Apelnstedt had 129 inhabitants. At that time, five farms , five half- span farms , seven Kothöfe and two Brinkitzer places were counted.

On March 1, 1974, Apelnstedt was merged with the communities of Hötzum , Lower Sick, Upper Sick and Volzum to form the new community of Sickte .

In recent times the population of the place has increased due to development in the north.
