Apfeltrang is a district of the municipality of Ruderatshofen in the Swabian district of Ostallgäu .

geography

The church village is located in the Allgäu planning region in the north of the municipality, just under three kilometers north of Ruderatshofen on the eastern slope of the Sattlersbuckel. The district road OAL 7 / KF 7 from Ruderatshofen to Kaufbeuren leads through it.

history

Around the years 600 to 800, the Urhof was built in what is now the center of the village, probably an offshoot of the Urmark Altdorf . Celtic and Roman field names indicate a very early settlement. A Celtic name of the place is Aphaltarwanc , which can be translated as apple tree plain , which is also an indication of the very early settlement.

Apfeltrang was first mentioned in 1150, when a knight Volkmar von Affildranc (Appletrang) appeared as a witness to a large donation. He and his brother Marquard probably lived in a castle southwest of the town, the castle stables of which can still be seen today. In the later centuries the rulers over the place changed more often. The sovereign was the Hochstift Augsburg . In 1796 a desolation took place (forerunner of the land consolidation). In doing so, farms were outsourced from the interior of the village, creating the wastelands of Fuchs, Hefele, Nettengrub and a few years later Fleischer and Dionis.

With the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss of 1803, the place came to Bavaria. In the course of the administrative reforms in the Kingdom of Bavaria , the community of Apfeltrang was created with the community edict of 1818 with the following districts:

On May 1, 1978, this municipality was incorporated into Ruderatshofen on the occasion of the municipal reform. On January 1, 1982, the former Wenglingen district of Apfeltranger with the wastes Lohbauer and Unger broke away from the community by referendum and was ceded to the neighboring community of Aitrang .
