The Apollo is a construction vessel of the type NG-5500X of the Dutch company GustoMSC.

history

The ship was ordered in November 2014 from the Uljanik shipyard in Pula , Croatia . It was built under construction number 520 for GeoSea, a company belonging to the Belgian DEME Group . The ship was the first installation ship built in Croatia. The construction of the ship began with the first steel cut on October 23, 2015. The keel was laid on December 16, 2015, the launch on August 4, 2017. The ship was completed on August 8, 2018.

The ship is equipped with a diesel-electric drive . Propulsion is carried out by four propeller pods driven by electric motors, each with an output of 2555  kW . The ship has a dynamic positioning system . There are four generator sets for power generation, each driven by a diesel engine with an output of 2688 kW and two generator sets, each driven by a diesel engine with an output of 1512 kW.

The deckhouse is in the forward area of ​​the ship. There is space for 92 people on board. With additional accommodation modules that can be loaded on the deck, the capacity can be increased to 150 people.

There is an open deck behind the deckhouse. There are 2000 m² of space available here. The deck can be loaded with up to 15 t / m². The ship's carrying capacity is 4500 t.

The working crane is on the starboard side at the stern of the ship. It is installed around the lifting leg so that it can rotate 360 ​​degrees. The crane can lift 800 t with a 25 m outreach. A second crane can lift 10 t. It serves as an auxiliary crane and for lifting smaller loads.

The lifting legs are 84.2 m long. They can be extended to 106.8 m. The ship can operate as a lifting platform in water up to 70 m deep.

The ship was built for the construction and maintenance of offshore wind turbines . But it can also be used as a living platform, for example.
