The Apostolic Prefecture Ulaanbaatar ( latin praefectura Apostolica Ulaanbaatarensis , Mongolian Улаанбаатар хот дахь Апостолик Захиргаа ) is in the Mongolia preferred Roman Catholic Apostolic Prefecture based in Ulaanbaatar .

history

The mission sui juris Outer Mongolia was founded on March 14, 1922 by Pope Pius XI. Erected with the Apostolic Constitution In catholicae Ecclesiae from cessions of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate Inner Mongolia . In 1924 the Mission sui juris Outer Mongolia was renamed Mission sui juris Urga .

The Mission sui juris Urga was raised to the Apostolic Prefecture on July 8, 2002 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution De universa catholica and renamed the Apostolic Prefecture Ulaanbaatar .
