The Apostolic Vicariate Savannakhet ( Latin : Apostolicus Vicariatus Savannakhetensis ) is an Apostolic Vicariate of the Roman Catholic Church located in Laos .

It includes the two provinces of Khammuan and Savannakhet . The seat is the St. Louis Cathedral in Thakhek , and there is also the St. Theresa co- cathedral in Savannakhet .

history

The Apostolic Vicariate Savannakhet was founded on December 21, 1950 by Pope Pius XII. established as the Apostolic Prefecture of Thakhek . The Apostolic Prefecture was elevated to the Apostolic Vicariate on February 24, 1958 and renamed the Apostolic Vicariate Savannakhet on November 26, 1963 . On June 12, 1967, the Vicariate of Savannakhet gave the southern parts of its territory to the establishment of the Apostolic Vicariate Paksé .
