Apostolos "Posto" Tsalastras (* 27. August 1964 in Hilden ) is First Assistant Secretary , Treasurer and Culture Councilor of the city of Oberhausen .

Life

Apostolos Tsalastras was born and raised in Hilden in the Rhineland as the son of Greek migrant workers . He is married.

SPD

Apostolos Tsalastras has been a member of the SPD since 1984. "My ideal is social justice and the freedom of the individual", he told the RP , which stated: "He will never be a radical, even if he still calls himself an SPD leftist."

Tsalastras was Juso chairman and then until 2004 SPD chairman in Hilden. Since 2002 he has been a member of the board of the NRW-SPD, is a member of the state presidency and spokesman for the state working group on migration and integration .

In December 2014, Tsalastras was nominated as a candidate for the mayoral election in September 2015 in a member survey by the Oberhausen SPD . "If he wins, Tsalastras will be the first mayor of a major German city who has foreign parents," wrote the FR about the candidate, who was also supported by the Greens and the FDP. He lost the election in the first ballot with 37.7 percent against 52.5 percent, which the CDU candidate Daniel Schranz received.
