Applus Services, SA ( proper spelling Applus + ), based in Barcelona (Spain), is a publicly listed international inspection, testing and certification company. In the 2015 financial year, Applus generated sales of EUR 1,702 million with around 18,700 employees in 70 countries. International activities account for 84% of total sales.
background
The company was founded in 1996 by the Agbar (Aguas de Barcelona) group as Agbar Automotive to carry out the general inspection on motor vehicles that was introduced in Spain at the time . Through diversification and acquisitions (including IDIADA ), the activities grew to around EUR 200 million in sales in 17 countries by 2003. This year, the bank Caja Madrid and the utility Unión Fenosa joined as minority shareholders to help finance the company's further expansion; by 2007 sales had increased to EUR 675 million in 36 countries. In 2007 the company was taken over by the American private equity investor Carlyle . The IPO took place in 2014 with the partial exit of Carlyle (who initially retained a 17% stake).

It provides industrial inspection, environmental inspection and technical services for a range of industrial sectors, including a. in the fields of energy, gas & oil, construction and infrastructure.
- RTD : RTD is a service provider in the energy sector providing non-destructive testing, inspection and certification for the capital-intensive, high-risk energy, utility and infrastructure industries worldwide.
- Velosi : Velosi focus on asset integrity consulting, supplier monitoring, third party inspection, testing, certification and recruitment services for the oil and gas, mining and power industries.
