Applus + IDIADA is a development service provider for the automotive industry with headquarters in Santa Oliva (Spain) and is part of the listed Spanish Applus group. It employs over 1000 people at 27 locations worldwide. Applus + IDIADA has a test site for vehicle testing in Europe near Barcelona and in China.
history
In 1971 the Institut de l'Investigació Aplicada de l'Automobil (Institute for Applied Research in Vehicle Technology) was founded as a spin-off from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia . The first engine test stands were installed in the 1980s. In 1990 IDIADA was removed from the university and placed under the regional government as an independent company. In 1992 the test rigs were relocated to what is now the test site at L'Albornar in Santa Oliva. The privatization with the takeover by Applus took place in 1999. The participation structure has remained unchanged to this day; 80% are owned by Applus and 20% by the government of Catalonia. IDIADA Fahrzeugtechnik GmbH was founded in Germany in 2002. In 2003 further offices were opened in France, Italy and Japan, and in 2004 the offices in Great Britain and China were added. The India location was founded in 2006, at the same time IDIADA CZ was founded in the Czech Republic.

Vehicle development
Applus + IDIADA deals with development services in the areas of design, calculation and testing as well as with project management, especially body and chassis development, active and passive safety (integral safety) , acoustics, service life analyzes and environmental simulations as well as the areas of electronics, engine applications and manufacturing processes.
Proving grounds and test facilities
Applus + IDIADA operates a proving ground at the headquarters in Santa Oliva, u. a. with a high-speed track, a crosswind system , external noise measurement track, an off-road track, a crash system , a sling plate , an emissions test system, engine test benches , a climatic chamber , brake test benches and other facilities that are required for vehicle development.
Homologation
Applus + IDIADA undertakes projects worldwide in the approval of passenger cars, components, commercial vehicles, motorcycles and helmets. Accreditations exist for the European Union, Japan, Brazil and Australia as well as for numerous other countries in South America and the Middle East. Applus + IDIADA also oversees homologation programs in China, Korea, Japan, the USA and India. In addition, Applus + IDIADA actively supports the further development of ECE and EEC regulations by participating in international workshops, e.g. B. in Geneva and Brussels.
