The Suzuki GS 550 E is a sporty designed motorcycle from the Suzuki brand with a transversely installed in-line four-cylinder engine. It filled the gap between the two-cylinder GS 400 and the four-cylinder GS 750. It was produced from 1978 to 1981.

technology

The GS 550 E had an engine that was derived from the GS 750 and was easy to turn, with a 56 mm bore and 55.8 mm stroke, an almost square engine with two overhead camshafts . Your timing chain was automatically readjusted by a pose tensioner. The engine was known for its particularly smooth running and a long service life. The smooth running was described as "impressive" by the magazine MOTORRAD.

The GS 550 E was braked by a double disc brake system on the front wheel and, unlike the original GS 550, also by a disc brake on the rear wheel.
