Berthold Johannes

Berthold Johannes (born November 24, 1947 in Pleizenhausen ) is a German diplomat . From 2010 to 2012 he was the German ambassador to the Republic of Moldova .

Life

After graduating from high school , Johannes studied political science and history at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg , the Free University of Berlin and the London School of Economics and Political Science . After completing his studies, he worked from 1974 to 1978 as a research assistant for British and international politics at the Otto Suhr Institute for Political Science at the University of Berlin. In 1978 he completed his doctorate there with a dissertation on the subject of between isolationism and collective security. Problems in the formulation of British European policy between the occupation of the Rhineland and the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War .

In 1978 he began his career in the Foreign Service and, after completing his preparatory service , found employment in the Foreign Office and at the diplomatic missions in Poland , Geneva , Istanbul , Ethiopia , the Netherlands and Seville, and in the Federal Ministry of Defense .

From 2010 to 2012, Berthold Johannes was the German ambassador to the Republic of Moldova . He retired in the summer of 2012.
