description

The L. Dovator in Moscow (2000)

The river cruise ship with three passenger decks was built in 1955 as L. Dovator ( Russian Л. Доватор ), ( German transcription: L. Dowator) for the shipping company Wolschskoje Objedinjonnoje Rechnoje Parochodstvo ( Volga-United River Shipping Company ) in Kazan. It belongs to a series of 49 ships of the "Rodina" type produced between 1954 and 1961. The ship has a diesel-electric drive with three main engines. The ship was named after the hero of the Soviet Union Lev Mikhailovich Dovator .

Since 2002 the ship has been operating under the name Arabella (the name refers to the ship of the pirate Captain Peter Blood) and is used by the tour operator Admiral in passenger service on the Volga and the Kuibyshev reservoir . From 2002 to 2003 it was completely overhauled and renewed.

The Arabella came on 10 July 2011, the Bulgaria , which had fallen on the Volga in need and declined to help and rescued 77 people who later in Kazan were brought ashore. In addition, Arabella , which usually serves as a floating hotel in Moscow in winter , was used as a floating base for the salvage work during the Bulgaria disaster.

In 2012 the ship was bought by the OAO Selenodolski sawod imeni AM Gorkogo , which belongs to the Ak Bars holding company , and 20 cabins, including the VIP class, will be installed on the Arabella .
