The FC Araks Ararat was an Armenian football club from the city of Ararat . The club played in the Bardsragujn chumb and was previously known as FC Zement Ararat. He won two titles, one as cement and the other as araks.

Club history

The club was founded in 1960 as FC Ararat and was located in the city of Ararat ( not to be confused with FC Ararat Yerevan ). At the beginning of the first Armenian football championship in 1992, the club was renamed FC Zement Ararat. In 1998, cement won both the championship and the cup . In the next year Zement passed the championship to FC Schirak Gyumri with a difference of 2 points and ended up in third place behind Ararat. Nevertheless, the club managed to defend the cup.

The following year cement was renamed again, this time given a more original name. The new name of the club would be FC Araks Ararat. Araks played very well this season and won the championship. After this success, the club management moved the club under a new name to Yerevan ; FC Spartak Yerevan ( this Spartak Yerevan was later to merge with FC Banants Yerevan ). At the same time Araks Ararat was rebuilt in the city of Ararat, but had to settle in the lowest division of Armenian football.

Around 2003 the club got into a financial crisis and in 2005 the club left the stage.
