Arcen en Velden ( Limburg Árse en Velde ) was a Dutch municipality in the province of Limburg . It was located between the Maas and the border with Germany north of the city of Venlo , into which it was incorporated on January 1, 2010.
The villages of Arcen , Lomm and Velden are located in the former municipality .
Attractions
At Arcen there is a castle from the 17th century, which was built by order of the dukes of Geldern . The associated castle gardens ( Kasteeltuinen ) were completely restored after the floods of 1995 and can be visited.
The Limburg brewery Hertog Jan in Arcen can also be visited. The De IJsvogel grain distillery , located nearby, is also open to visitors. Various jenever and liqueurs are distilled here. Bathing and wellness fans from the region also like to visit the Arcen thermal baths .
The area is wooded and varied. Water sports are possible near the Maas. The region is known for growing flowers and asparagus .
