Arduino Bertoldo
Arduino Bertoldo (born December 30, 1932 in Castelnovo di Isola Vicentina , Vicenza Province , Italy , † April 3, 2012 in Vicenza ) was Roman Catholic Bishop of Foligno .
Life
Arduino Bertoldo was ordained a priest on March 22, 1958 after studying theology and philosophy at the Pontifical Urban University . He was vicar in Civita Castellana and secretary to the bishop and director of the collegio di Pian Paradiso , an institution for the integration of young people into employment.
Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Foligno on October 10, 1992. He was ordained episcopal by the Bishop of Civita Castellana , Divo Zadi , on November 21, 1992 in the Cathedral of Civita Castellana ; Co- consecrators were Decio Lucio Grandoni , Bishop of Orvieto-Todi , and Giovanni Benedetti , Bishop Emeritus of Foligno. The ceremonial inauguration ( enthronement ) took place on December 20, 1992. In the Conference of the Bishops of Umbria (CEU) he was responsible for the economic support of the Church, the liturgy and the laity.
On June 20, 1993 and after the earthquake on January 3, 1998, Pope John Paul II visited the diocese at the invitation of Bishop Bertoldo.
Bertoldo got involved with the population after the earthquake of September 26, 1997, which affected large parts of Umbria and badly damaged Foligno . While Assisi, 30 kilometers away , was restored at great expense, the consequences of the earthquake were visible in Foligno and in the surrounding area for many years; this resulted in many restrictions for the local population. The Bertoldo episcopate was shaped by the phase of reconstruction.
On July 3, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation request submitted for reasons of age. Until the inauguration of his successor on October 5 of the same year, he headed the Diocese of Foligno as Apostolic Administrator .
