The approximately 172 km long Río Arlanza is a left tributary of the Arlanzón . It rises in the Sierra de la Demanda northeast of the village of Quintanar de la Sierra in Castile .

course

The Río Arlanza flows mainly in a westerly direction and passes several historical places in Castile - including Castrovido , Salas de los Infantes , Barbadillo del Mercado , Covarrubias , Lerma and Tordómar . At Palenzuela it finally flows into the Arlanzón.

Attractions

In addition to the historical places with their churches (iglesias) and palaces (palacios) , several stone bridges (puentes) from the Middle Ages or early modern times are particularly interesting.

Wine region

The river is the namesake of the Spanish wine-growing region Arlanza with around 410 hectares of vineyards , which is managed by 12 bodegas that produce around 600,000 liters of wine annually.
