history

Commander in chief

Chief of Staff

At the beginning of the First World War , only Landwehr units were available to cover the Silesian border . These were combined with the mobilization to form the Landwehr Corps and placed under the command of General of the Infantry Remus von Woyrsch . However, this association was reinforced by numerous other troops to form an army department . A reorganization on November 3, 1914, when Colonel General Woyrsch was appointed its commander, took this into account . Since this large formation only had an improvised character, the regular position of Woyrsch remained that of the commanding general of the Landwehr corps .

The Army Department was used exclusively on the Eastern Front . Here she was placed under the command of the Austro-Hungarian army command from November 14, 1914 to August 4, 1915 in support of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy . Later there was also an Austro-Hungarian army or army department under Woyrsch's command , so that the term “Army Woyrsch” can also be found in the literature. On September 20, 1916, the High Command of the Army Department was also commissioned to lead the Woyrsch Army Group . On December 15, 1917, the Army Division was dissolved.
