Armin Fidler (born November 19, 1958 in Innsbruck ) teaches and is a manager in the healthcare sector.

education

After his Matura at the Bundesgymnasium Bregenz and completing the Austrian military service in Innsbruck , Armin Fidler completed his medical studies at the Medical University of Innsbruck and the Medical University of Hamburg ( Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine ). He completed his training as a general practitioner with the “ius practicandi” at the Bregenz Regional Hospital . He then completed his training in tropical medicine at the Bernhard Nocht Institute (DTM & H) in Hamburg. He then graduated in the USA in the master's programs "Public Health (MPH)" and "Health Policy and Management (MSc.)" At the Harvard School of Public Health and the Kennedy School of Government . Furthermore, Fidler completed additional training in management and economics at various universities.

Professional career

In the early 1990s, Fidler initially worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta , Georgia, where he was one of the few foreigners to be accepted into the CDC's "Epidemic Intelligence Program". After consulting assignments for the World Health Organization in Bolivia , Haiti and Mexico , Armin Fidler worked for the “Expanded Program on Immunizations” of the WHO and from 1990 to 1993 for this program in Mexico and Central America. In 1993 he moved to the World Bank Group in Washington, DC , where he was responsible for Latin America, from 2000 to 2008 for Europe and Central Asia . From 2008 to 2015 he was “Lead Advisor for Health Policy and Strategy” of the World Bank Group.

Fidler has been employed at the Management Center Innsbruck (MCI) since March 2015 and teaches in the “European Master in Health Economics and Management” (EU-HEM), a course that is accredited together with the Universities of Bologna, Oslo and Erasmus Rotterdam. He also teaches at George Washington University , works for the European Health Management Association (EHMA) and is a member of the American Public Health Association (APHA) and the International Health Economics Association (IHEA). In addition, he is the program advisory board for the health talks at the European Forum Alpbach and board member of the European Health Forum Gastein (EHFG). In his position as a scientific expert for the PERI Group, he works on projects in the Austrian healthcare system. Among other things, Fidler is the initiator of the independent Austrian health initiative Praevenire, which was first carried out in April 2016 in Seitenstetten Abbey (Lower Austria).
