Live and act

Heitz comes from a musical family; his father played the saxophone, his mother was a singer; his brother Uwe is a jazz drummer. He first learned the clarinet , but when a guitarist in his parents' combo failed to play, he turned to the guitar, which he learned essentially self-taught . It was first shaped by Bobby Falta , later mainly by Pat Martino . Heitz founded his own Zigan Swing Trio , which initially consisted of rhythm guitarist Didi Winterstein (until 1992) and bassist Zeca de Oliveira. From 1986 to 1993 he also played in a trio with two saxophonists, including Ralf Rothkegel . He appeared in Wedeli Köhler's group at the Django Reinhardt festival , with whom he also recorded the album My Melancholy Baby (1995). In the late 1990s he belonged to the group of the Alsatian accordionist Frédéric Schlick ( Art for Art , 2000). He also toured with Joe Sachse and performed for many years with Zipflo Reinhardt and Biréli Lagrène . With his own trio and the violinist Andy Wäldele he presented himself at the Montreux Jazz Festival .
