Armin Hetzer

Armin Hetzer (born December 27, 1941 in Bad Godesberg ) is a general linguist specializing in the languages ​​of Southeast Europe.

Life

education and profession

Hetzer graduated from high school in St. Wendel / Saar in 1961 and then studied Slavic Studies , Sinology and Philosophy in Bonn , Cologne and Göttingen . In 1966 he obtained a diploma in modern Chinese, in 1969 his master's degree in Slavic Philology and in 1972 he received his doctorate on Vjaceslav Ivanovic Ivanov (1866–1948). Since 1975 he has been mainly concerned with the Albanian language and literature. During this time he worked as a specialist at the State and University Library in Bremen , initially in the evaluation center for Eastern languages. In 1994 he completed his habilitation in general linguistics on the subject of nominalization and verbal embedding in modern Albanian written language .

Act

In addition to specialist stays in various Eastern European countries, such as participating in language courses and giving guest lectures, Hetzer was also a guest lecturer at the University of Tallinn in 1996 and as a guest professor at the universities of Tartu (2003/2004), TPÜ Tallinn as part of the Johann Gottfried Herder foundation (2004/2005), Tetovo (summer semester 2006) and Zagreb (winter semester 2006/2007).

As an adjunct professor at the University of Bremen after 1994, Hetzer mainly held courses on general linguistic topics, such as the history of newer linguistic methods, language theory and grammar, style and text analysis. He also works regularly at the Bremen Linguistic Colloquium and for the BLicK series .

Hetzer is a member of the Southeast Europe Society in Munich and as a representative of Balkan philology in the German National Committee of the Association internationale des études sud-est-européennes (Aiesee) in Bucharest. He is also one of the editors of the Polish magazine Lingua Posnaniensis .
