Armin Krings (born November 22, 1962 in Mönchengladbach ) is a former Luxembourg soccer player of German origin. He played for Avenir Beggen and FC Monnerich from 1981 to 1997 and for the Luxembourg national team from 1987 to 1991 .

Career

Armin Krings was born in Mönchengladbach . In the early 1980s he played for the Borussia Mönchengladbach youth team ; one of his teammates was Michael Frontzeck at the time . At this time he received inquiries from the 2nd Bundesliga , for example from Viktoria Köln . At the time, he did not want to become a professional footballer, but rather learn a non-sporting profession, and in 1981 he switched to the then Luxembourg first division club Avenir Beggen . In addition to his training at a bank, he was able to play in the first Luxembourg league and in the European Cup . He won the championship title with Avenir in 1982, 1984, 1986, 1993 and 1994 and also the Luxembourg Cup in 1983, 1984, 1987, 1992, 1993 and 1994. In 1982 (25 goals), 1984 (26 goals), 1985 (16 goals), 1986 (25 goals), 1987 (21 goals), 1989 (21 goals) and 1993 (23 goals) he was Luxembourg's top scorer. He scored the most goals so far in the Luxembourg first division.

For the Luxembourg national football team , he completed 14 games and scored one goal. He made his debut on September 9, 1987 in the game against Ireland (1: 2). In this game he scored his only international goal.

Armin Krings married Carine Risch, the Luxembourg national table tennis player, in September 1985 . The couple have two children.
