Armin Opherden (born April 9, 1964 in Düsseldorf ) is a German photographer who has made a name for himself primarily through weather photos shown on television.

Life

Armin Opherden became known throughout Germany through weather photos for television programs. This goes back to an offer to Jörg Kachelmann , to whom he suggested in 2003 that daily images that his viewers should send him should be shown in his moderation. For this purpose, photos no longer had to be developed and scanned due to the increasing use of digital cameras , but could be copied directly from the chip card as an e-mail attachment. To get started, Opherden regularly sent pictures of current weather events to Meteomedia . These were very well received by the audience. Opherden soon supplied several broadcasters, including ARD , ZDF , WDR , SWR and MDR , and was often featured with his pictures today , for example in “Wetter nach den Tagesthemen ” or after the ZDF news program .

Due to his knowledge of German climate history, especially the occurrence of tornadoes in Germany, he was interviewed by several newspaper editors and the SAT1 program “Planetopia”. In his opinion, the summer of 2003 was the hottest since 1540, he estimated the number of tornadoes occurring in Germany to be around 50 to 100 per year, which has now been confirmed by the observation network of Meteomedia employee Thomas Sävert.

Opherden now mainly photographs musicians and cabaret artists, including long-time greats such as Manfred Mann's Earthband , BAP , The Sweet , Campino , Johann König , Jürgen Becker , Gerburg Jahnke , Krissie Illing, Dieter Hildebrandt and Gerhard Polt .

He won several local and national photo competitions. The University of Cologne uses his nocturnal photo of Albertus Magnus in its printed works , which arose from the 2004/2005 photo competition sponsored by Leo Fritz Gruber .

At the beginning of 2011 Armin Opherden published the guide "Tips against lovesickness" and the novel "Anton did not become a professor", which is about a gifted child who does not develop as expected by his fellow men. "Tactful" followed in February 2012. In it, Opherden takes a very critical, ironic look at inconsiderate behavior and bad behavior in office communities.

Opherden gives his personal experiences as an extra and small actor in the guidebook "Actor, a dream job?" further.

All of the author's books have been translated into English and are distributed worldwide.
