Life

Origin and family

Arnd von Raesfeld came from the Westphalian noble family von Raesfeld , from which numerous well-known personalities emerged who belonged to the Catholic faith . He was the son of Arnd von Raesfeld zu Hamern (* 1479, † 1567) and his wife Petronella von Merveldt († 1534). His siblings were Bernhard von Raesfeld (Prince-Bishop of Münster), the Münster canons Gottfried , Heinrich , Bitter and Dietrich Franz , Johann (* 1509, ∞ Katharina von dem Berge), Anna (* 1510, Nun zu Überwasser), Bertra (1512– 1548, ∞ Wilhelm von Büren), Elisabeth (* 1515, Kanonisse in Recklinghausen), Goswin (* 1518, ∞ Elisabeth von dem Berge, sister of his sister-in-law Katharina), Ludger (* 1526–1503, Drost zu Wolbeck and Sassenberg) and Franz (* 1528, Canon of Mainz and Osnabrück).

Act

In 1528, after the death of Johannes Kock , Arnd received the Grothusen provost in Friesland from Bishop Friedrich . With papal approval he took possession of the cathedral priest of Heinrich von Guntersberg in August 1531 . In return, he received an annual pension of 36 Rhenish gold guilders. Arnd was a member of the Billerbecker calendar , which looked after the needy and helpless. It is not known whether he renounced or died before February 13, 1536 . Pope Paul III had on February 1, 1535 in a bull allowed the assignment to his brother Heinrich and thereby reduced the pension to 20 gold guilders. This commissioned several authorized representatives at the Curia to sue the Pope's decision to provide Heinrich von Munster for this purpose. But he could not prevail.
