Heinrich von Raesfeld

Heinrich von Raesfeld (* 1521 ; † April 7, 1573 ) was archdeacon , canon and thesaurar at the old cathedral in Münster .

Life

Origin and family

Heinrich von Raesfeld came from the Westphalian noble family von Raesfeld , from which numerous well-known personalities emerged. Its members belonged to the Catholic faith . He was the son of Arnd von Raesfeld zu Hamern (* 1479, † 1567) and his wife Petronella von Merveldt († 1534). His siblings were Bernhard von Raesfeld (Prince-Bishop of Münster), the Münster canons Gottfried , Bitter , Arnd and Dietrich Franz , Johann (* 1509, ∞ Katharina von dem Berge), Anna (* 1510, nun of Überwasser), Bertra (1512– 1548, ∞ Wilhelm von Büren), Elisabeth (* 1515, Kanonisse in Recklinghausen), Goswin (* 1518, ∞ Elisabeth von dem Berge, sister of his sister-in-law Katharina), Ludger (* 1526–1503, Drost zu Wolbeck and Sassenberg) and Franz (* 1528, Canon of Mainz and Osnabrück).

Act

After waiving his brother Ludger became Henry on June 18, 1540 canonicate at the Old Cathedral in Munster . In December he enrolled at the Cologne Artist Faculty and was emancipated the following year. He became archdeacon , although he was not ordained a priest. Heinrich took over the cathedral winery on February 23, 1552 and held this office until 1556. From then on he was a thesaurary and remained in this office until his death. From 1557 he was also cathedral senior. Heinrich was also vicar in Dülmen , canon in Vreden and pastor in Rorup. He was buried in the cathedral cloister in front of the old cathedral opposite the grave of his brother Arnd.
