Arne Glimcher also Arnold Glimcher (born March 2, 1938 in Duluth , Minnesota ) is an American director and film producer who became internationally known through films such as Mambo Kings or Im Swamp des Verbrechens . He is also a well-known New York art dealer .

life and career

Arnold Glimcher, born in Duluth, Minnesota in 1938, came into contact with the film business for the first time in 1982 in Robert Benton's thriller In the Silence of the Night . As an auction bidder, he appeared in a minor supporting role. In 1986 he became Associate Producer for the film project Prosecutors You Don't Kiss With Robert Redford in the lead role, a psychological thriller directed by Ivan Reitman , who plays in the art world. In 1988 he also appeared as the producer of the two films Gorillas im Nebel , a biography about the gorilla researcher Dian Fossey , played by Sigourney Weaver , and the family drama The Price of Emotions with Diane Keaton and Liam Neeson .

In 1992, Glimcher directed Mambo Kings, his first own feature film, which he also produced himself. In 1995 the thriller In the Swamp of Crime followed with Sean Connery and Laurence Fishburne in the leading roles. In 1999 he directed the comedy White River Kid with the cast of Bob Hoskins , Antonio Banderas and Ellen Barkin . The documentary Picasso and Braque Go to the Movies was made in 2008 .

Arne Glimcher is one of the most powerful dealers in the art world. He is the founder of the renowned Pace Gallery for modern and contemporary art in New York.
