In der Stille der Nacht (Original title: Still of the Night ) is an American thriller from 1982 with Roy Scheider and Meryl Streep in the leading roles.
action
The film begins with a nightly murder and then fades into the practice of New York psychiatrist Dr. Sam Rice, because the murdered man - George Bynum - was one of his patients. Rice leads an orderly, almost boring life without many ups or downs. Then he meets the attractive Brooke Reynolds and falls in love with the opaque woman who works in a renowned auction house. He learns that Brooke was the dead man's lover, with police investigations increasingly suggesting that Brooke is the killer. Despite the overwhelming evidence, Sam sticks to Brooke and has no idea what trouble he is in.
Reviews
The lexicon of international films judges: “Exciting thriller, which draws its charm mainly from the milieu of the New York art scene. While the psychological moments turn out to be too textbook-like and inadequately designed in terms of film, the film can convey a convincing atmosphere of anxiety and fear. "
