Arnie Sowell
Arnie Sowell (actually Arnold M. Sowell; born April 6, 1935 in Pittsburgh ) is a former American middle -distance runner who specialized in the 800-meter distance .
In 1955 he won the Pan American Games in Mexico City , and in 1956 he finished fourth at the Olympic Games in Melbourne .
He was twice US champion over 800 m or 880 yards (1955, 1956) and three times US indoor champion over 1000 yards (1955-1957). In 1954 and 1956 he was starting NCAA champions for the University of Pittsburgh over 800 m and 880 yards.
