Arno Bulitta

Arno Franz Bernhard Bulitta (born October 4, 1921 in Wartenburg , Warmia ; † September 9, 1995 in Neustadt an der Aisch ) was a German physician, deputy mayor, expellee and local politician and holder of the Federal Cross of Merit .

Youth and education

After graduating from high school in Allenstein in 1939 , he was obliged to do the Reich Labor Service (RAD), then he volunteered for the Air Force and was assigned to study medicine . After his release from American captivity in June 1945, he continued his medical studies in the American zone of occupation at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and received his doctorate in the summer of 1946 with a dissertation on multiple sclerosis (MS) as a doctor of medicine ( Dr . med. ).

Profession and positions

In Germany from 1945 to 1949 he founded the district group of the Landsmannschaft Ostpreußen e.V. in Erlangen after 1945 and was its long-term chairman, thus a born member of the Association of Expellees . In the period from June 30, 1948 to June 30, 1958, he was City Councilor of Erlangen. In the years 1950–1961 he was an active member of the All-German Bloc / Federation of Expellees and Disenfranchised, then member and from 1956–1958 parliamentary group leader of the Christian Social Party (CSU) and member of the Bavarian State Medical Association .

In 1958 he moved to Neustadt an der Aisch , in May became chief physician of the department for internal medicine in the newly established local district hospital and, after a few years, its clinic director. Since 1966 he was an honorary member of the city council, then from July 1, 1972 to 1990, as deputy mayor of the city. For many years he was a church councilor at the Catholic parish, from 1981 to 1982 as president of the Rotary Club of Rotary International and as a district sports doctor at the Bavarian State Sports Association.
