Arnold Billwiller

Arnold Billwiller (born August 30, 1850 in St. Gallen ; † January 9, 1928 there , reformed , resident in St. Gallen) was a Swiss brewery entrepreneur .

Life

Arnold Billwiller was born on August 30, 1850 in St. Gallen as the son of the brewer and host David Billwiller. After completing an apprenticeship as a brewer, Arnold Billwiller took over the beer brewery zum Schützengarten from his father in 1878, which he managed until his death. Under his leadership, the Schützengarten developed from a small business to a modern large brewery.

In addition, Billwiller set up foundations for staff welfare and to support social and cultural purposes. He was also a member of the St. Gallen Citizens' Council between 1888 and 1897.

Arnold Billwiller married Rosa, the daughter of Friedrich Gnägi, in his first marriage in 1877, and in his second marriage in 1888 Anna Julie, the daughter of the businessman and Vice President of the St. Gallen Commercial Directory, Christoph Otto Sand. He died on January 9, 1928, a few months after turning 77 in St. Gallen.
