Arnold Cremer

Arnold Maria Justin Cremer (born September 1, 1875 in Brussels ; † August 19, 1958 in Lüdinghausen ) was a German lawyer , industrialist and politician ( center ).

Life

The son of the secret commercial councilor and owner of the Thier & Co. brewery, Josef Cremer (1845–1938) and Auguste Schlüter (1849–1931) completed an apprenticeship at the Rostock bank after attending grammar school in Brilon and went to commercial college Dortmund . Following his professional training, he studied law and political science at the universities in Bonn , Würzburg , Freiburg , Berlin and Rostock . In 1903 he was at the Rostock University of Doctor of Laws PhD (Dissertation: . The legal nature of the special rights in the German Reich constitutional law ). The following year he went on a study trip to North America .

After his return from America, Cremer joined his father's company. He was granted power of attorney in 1905 and since 1908 he and his brothers have been partners in the brewery. While he was in control of the company's fortunes, he was deputy chairman of the Dortmund Beer Brewers Association, executive board member of the German Brewers' Association , board member of the protection association of the breweries of the former brewing tax group and member of the supervisory board of Kali-Industrie AG.

Cremer joined the Center Party, was a member of the Reich Committee of Trade and Industry Advisory Councils and was elected to the party's executive committee. From 1911 to 1922 he was a city councilor in Dortmund. In 1921 he was elected as a member of the Prussian state parliament, to which he belonged until the end of the fourth legislative period (1933). In parliament he represented constituency 18 (Westphalia-South).

Arnold Cremer had been married to Agnes Weltmann (1884–1970) since 1906 and had nine children.
