Arnold Schulten

Arnold Schulten (* 1809 in Düsseldorf ; † July 30, 1874 there ) was a German landscape painter and lithographer from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Schulten studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1822 . He was already registered there when Wilhelm Schadow took up his post as director. With Caspar Scheuren , Johann Adolf Lasinsky , Eduard Wilhelm Pose , Heinrich Funk and others, Schulten was one of the first students of the landscape painter Johann Wilhelm Schirmer . He stayed in his landscape class from 1830 to 1843. In 1849 Schulten set up his own studio in Düsseldorf. Schulten was a member of the Malkasten artists' association . In the summer of 1852 he went on a trip to the Swiss Alps with August Becker , August Leu and Ernst von Raven . In the last years of his life he could only paint a little because of increasing illness. In 1874 he died unmarried. Schulten exhibited in Berlin, Cologne, Düsseldorf and Bremen.
