Aron Adlerstein
Aron Adlerstein (born June 17, 1913 in Biała Podlaska , † March 20, 2000 in Leipzig ) was a Leipzig entrepreneur and from 1988 to 2000 chairman of the Israelite religious community in Leipzig .
Life
After the German occupation of Poland , Adlerstein was deported as a slave laborer ; He was sent to the Auschwitz concentration camp on June 25, 1943 via Lublin , Warsaw and Posen . After he was with a prisoner transport of the SS to Oelsnitz / Vogtl. came, he was liberated by US troops on April 16, 1945. He met Ruth Heymann in Oelsnitz and they married in 1946.
Adlerstein lived in Leipzig from December 1946. From 1950 to the late 1970s he ran a textile shop here. In the 1950s he became a member of the Israelite Religious Community in Leipzig; from February 1988 until his death, he succeeded Eugen Gollomb (1917–1988) as chairman. Aron Adlerstein died on March 20, 2000 and is buried in the New Israelite Cemetery in Leipzig.
