Arquimínio Rodrigues da Costa

Arquimínio Rodrigues da Costa (born July 8, 1924 in São Mateus ; † September 12, 2016 ibid) was a Portuguese clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Macau .

Life

Arquimínio Rodrigues da Costa came in December 1938 the seminary one of Macau and received on 6 October 1949, the priestly ordination . In February 1955 he became rector of the Macau seminary after having been a professor there for several years.

Pope Paul VI appointed him Bishop of Macau on January 20, 1976 . The Bishop of Hong Kong , John Baptist Wu Cheng-chung , ordained him episcopal on August 6 of the same year ; Co - consecrators were Julio Xavier Labayen OCD , Prelate of Infanta , and Charles-Joseph Lemaire M.EP , Emeritus Superior General of the Paris Mission and Emeritus Apostolic Coadjutor Vicar Emeritus of Kirin .

On October 6, 1988, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation, which he had requested for health reasons. In November of the same year he received the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Portugal . He last lived in his hometown of São Mateus and was in need of care.
