Domingos Lam Ka-Tseung ( Chinese  林家駿 , Pinyin Lín Jiājùn ) (born April 9, 1928 in Hong Kong ; † July 27, 2009 in Macau ) was Roman Catholic Bishop of Macau . He was the first bishop of Chinese origin in the diocese .

Life

Domingos Lam Ka-Tseung studied at the Seminary of St. Joseph and at the Instituto Salesiano de Macau the Salesians of Don Bosco . He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Macau on December 27, 1953 . He was a priest in Taipa and in 1959 became principal of the school "Escola Dom Joao Paulino". In 1962 he moved to the Singapore mission , and in 1973 he returned to Macau. In 1978 he was appointed Vicar General of the Diocese of Macau.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Coadjutor Bishop of Macau on 1987 . The episcopal ordination received his September 8, 1987 his predecessor Arquimínio Rodrigues da Costa ; Co -consecrators were Bishop James Chan Soon Cheong and Archbishop and later Cardinal John Baptist Wu Cheng-chung . His motto was: Sinceridade justiça paz . In 1988, after the resignation of Arquimínio Rodrigues da Costa, the last Portuguese bishop in this office, he was appointed 22nd Bishop of Macau.

In 1996 he founded the Macau Inter-University Institute , a private university, together with the Catholic University of Portugal and the Diocese . He was a member of the Macau Basic Law Drafting Committee. In 2002 he received the Honorable Medal of Golden Lotus Flower by the Macau SAR Government.

In 2003 Pope John Paul II granted his age-related resignation.
