The Arroyo Guaviyú is a small river in northern Uruguay .

The creek, which is about 35 kilometers long in the Artigas department, has its source in the range of hills known as Cuchilla Guaviyú , about 18 kilometers northwest of the city of Baltasar Brum .

From there it flows steadily in a westerly direction. After about ten kilometers the Arroyo Curupi joins as a left tributary. Near the Estancia Passo Portillo , the national road 3 crosses the river on the way to the city of Colonia Palma, about five kilometers to the north .

Just north of the city of Belén , the river flows into the Río Uruguay , to whose catchment area it belongs and which is dammed up there to form the Embalse Salto Grande . On the last five kilometers to the mouth, the river crosses a swampy valley with large puddles of water and partly wooded sandbanks.
