Artūras Karnišovas (born April 27, 1971 in Klaipėda ) is a Lithuanian former basketball player. The 2.04 m tall small forward was active from 1987 to 2002. Today Karnišovas works as general manager of the Denver Nuggets in the NBA .

Career

Karnišovas began his career in the Soviet era at Statyba Vilnius and moved to Seton Hall University in 1990 to play in the NCAA for four years . After a year in France with Cholet Basket Karnišovas went to FC Barcelona , with whom he won the Spanish championship for two years in a row and reached the final of the European championship cup. In 1997 he moved to Olympiacos in Greece. The following two years he worked for Fortitudo Bologna in Italy, where he was Italian champion in 2000. In 2000 Karnišovas returned to FC Barcelona, ​​with whom he won the championship and cup double. After another year there, he ended his career.

Karnišovas is the most successful scorer of the Lithuanian national team with 1453 points . He won the Olympic bronze medal with her in 1992 and 1996 . He also reached the final of the 1995 European Championship with the Lithuanian selection . At the 1997 European Championships , whose overall most successful scorer he was, the 1998 World Championships and the 1999 European Championships , Karnišovas was elected to the all-tournament team , but Lithuania did not reach the semi-finals in these tournaments.
