Arthur-Xavier Ducellier (born September 1, 1832 in Soliers , Département Calvados , † June 29, 1893 in Besançon ) was a French bishop of the 19th century.

Life

Arthur-Xavier Ducellier was already used as a seminarian by Bishop Didiot of Bayeux as secretary and, after his ordination, his general secretary . Since 1864 honorary canon and capitular vicar in 1866 , he headed the diocese after Didiot's death until Mgr. Hugonin's enthronement in 1867, whom he assisted for ten years as vicar general . Appointed Bishop of Bayonne by decree of June 8, 1878 , he was preconized on July 15 and consecrated on September 24 by Mgr. Hugonin in Bayeux. In this function he laid the foundation stone for the "College of the Immaculate Conception" in Pau .

In 1887 promoted to Archbishop of Besançon and on August 25th. J. solemnly installed, he showed himself there as a diligent administrator. In the spirit of the sociologist Le Play , he introduced the social question to the major seminary and church conferences and wrote several pastoral letters on it between 1890 and 1892.

Mgr. Ducellier died on June 29, 1893; the funeral sermon was given by the Bishop of Coutances , Abel-Anastase Germain .
