Arthur Aldred (born August 27, 1919 in Atherton , † May 23, 2002 in Birmingham ) was an English football player .

Career

Aldred came from Hereford United to first division club Aston Villa in 1946 , having previously played sporadically for Nottingham Forest in the war-related substitute competitions during World War II . The breakthrough in the first team of Aston Villa was denied the winger and in the summer of 1948 he moved without having played a competitive game, as did his teammates Arthur Haynes and Tom Clark , free transfer to third division FC Walsall . Aldred came in the first half of the season 1947/49 to eleven league and four cup appearances, in both competitions he managed a hit when he formed the wing tongs with Jimmy Condie or Lou Tinkler . The last time he was at the end of January in a 4-0 defeat in the FA Cup against the second division Luton Town was used. After his change request had been publicly communicated in early March 1949, he left Walsall at the end of the season and continued his career in the Southern Football League .

There he first rejoined Hereford and then played for Cheltenham Town (from August 1950), Yeovil Town (1951/52; 28 competitive games / 8 goals), FC Tonbridge , the Kidderminster Harriers (from August 1953) and Rugby Town (from September 1954). In February 1970 he took over the coaching position for the Sunday League team Lion Rangers .
