Arthur Green

Arthur Vincent Green (born October 31, 1857 in Albury , Surrey , England , † September 24, 1944 in Heidelberg near Melbourne , Victoria , Australia ) was Bishop of Grafton and Armindale in Australia.

Life

He was the eldest son of Reverend Samuel Dutton Green and Eliza NN. On December 28, 1880, he married in Avenel , Victoria (Australia) Matilda Tucker (born May 29, 1851 - June 30, 1941), the daughter of Archdeacon Joseph Kidger Tucker.

Green was enrolled at the University of Durham in England in 1874 , but went to Australia with his father in 1874/1875, after his mother had died in 1872. There he studied theology at Trinity College at the University of Melbourne , graduated with honors in 1879, graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Master of Arts in 1883 and obtained an LL.B. in 1885. and in 1887 an LL.D from the University of Sydney .

On December 19, 1880 he became a deacon and on December 18, 1881 a priest in the Diocese of Melbourne. After that, he was archbishop in Ballarat until May 1, 1894 in Melbourne in 1900 ordained the second Bishop of Grafton and Armindale 3rd bishop and was (1890-1894). During his tenure as bishop he founded over 80 churches and the “St. John's Theological College ”( Auckland , New Zealand ) and the“ St. Aidan's Theological College ".

In 1915 Green retired, but was professor of theology at Trinity College from 1918 to 1941, where he himself began his studies.
