Arthur Ibbetson

Arthur Francis Ibbetson (born September 8, 1922 in Bishop Auckland , Durham , England , † October 19, 1997 in Hillingdon ) was a British cameraman .

biography

Arthur Ibbetson made his debut at Bushey Studios in 1938 , moved the following year as second camera assistant to British International Studios and in the same position in 1940 to Shepperton and Denham Studios . After his military service, from which he was released in 1943, he joined the chief cameraman Mutz Greenbaum , who brought him to his side in the same year as a simple cameraman (debut in the spy thriller " Hotel Reserve ").

Ibbetson made his debut as chief cameraman with The Horse's Mouth , a film drama starring Alec Guinness . Since then, Ibbetson has been behind the camera for numerous films. In 1970 he was for Anne of the Thousand Days for the Oscar in the category Best Cinematography nomination. In 1981 he was awarded the Emmy for his cinematography in the film The Little Lord .
