Arthur Rosenzweig

Arthur Rosenzweig ( March 27, 1883 in Teplice (now Teplice), Bohemia - February 2, 1936 in Prague ) was an Austrian rabbi .

Life

After graduating from high school at Friedrichs-Gymnasium Berlin , Arthur Rosenzweig, son of the Berlin rabbi Adolf Aharon Rosenzweig (1850–1918) and his wife Anna geb. Zwirn, at the University of Berlin and at the Institute for the Science of Judaism . In 1905, Arthur Rosenzweig moved to the Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg , where he in 1907 with the thesis the residential house in the Mishnah doctorate was.

He then became a rabbi in Schneidemühl . From 1909 to 1919 he worked as a rabbi for the Jewish community in Aussig . In the meantime, Arthur Rosenzweig served as a field rabbi during the First World War .

From 1920 to 1922 he was the second city rabbi , together with Julius Cohn , and district rabbi in Stuttgart . From 1926 to 1935 he returned to Schneidemühl as a rabbi. During this time he was a member of the Prussian State Association of Jewish Communities in Berlin and was active in other Jewish organizations.

Arthur Rosenzweig worked at the Spanish Synagogue in Prague from 1935 until his sudden death .

His marriage to his wife Grete has two sons and a daughter.
