Artur Kolodziejski (born September 18, 1979 in Grójec , Poland ) is a former German basketball player .

Career start

Artur Kolodziejski was born in Grójec in Poland , but came to Germany with his parents at an early age and grew up in Rheinbach . He began his basketball career as a youth at the SG Pallotti-Kolleg Rheinbach and later at Telekom Baskets Bonn . After he had gained his first experience in the men's division with their cooperation partner SG Sechtem in the 1st regional league, he moved to the then local rival Dragons Rhöndorf in the second Bundesliga north. There he established himself as a top performer and won the championship title with his team in 2001.

Jump into the Bundesliga

While Rhöndorf failed to qualify for the Bundesliga, Kolodziejski ventured into the first division and switched to the Central German Basketball Club . During a season that was unsatisfactory both for the team and for himself, he was at least nominated for the All Star Game of the basketball league, but was not used there.

Breakthrough in the professional sector

After only one season he broke down his tents in East Germany and hired Ratiopharm Ulm . With good performances there, he played an enormous part in the fact that Ulm only narrowly missed promotion to the Bundesliga and was nominated several times for the German A2 national team.

The reward for this in 2003 was a two-year contract with Bayer Giants Leverkusen , in whose efforts, with the help of many German players, to increase identification with the fans, Kolodziejski was to play an important role. There he showed some positive approaches, including his personal best of 31 points in a game against TBB Trier, but missed the ultimate breakthrough.

Return to Bonn

In summer 2005 he therefore returned to the Bundesliga squad of Telekom Baskets Bonn , where he quickly became a crowd favorite and excelled as a defense specialist. His breakthrough breakthrough came when a total of twelve players were disqualified during the quarter-finals against Bamberg, so that only five players from Bonn had to play against four Bamberg players. Kolodziejski scored 24 points in this game, leading his team to the only victory in this series. Just a few days after the end of the season, his contract was extended by two years.

Kolodziejski and his team had to admit defeat to Brose Baskets again in the quarter-finals the following year , but were able to attract attention nationwide thanks to their good defensive performance against the later final MVP Casey Gardner Jacobsen .

In the 2007/2008 season he reached the final of the German championship with the Telekom Baskets Bonn quite surprisingly, but lost to Alba Berlin there . Kolodziejski averaged 17 minutes of play time per game during the season, scored 4.7 points on average and hit a strong 45.6% of his three-point throws.

Subsequently, Kolodziejski extended his contract in Bonn for another two years.

In the 2008/2009 season, Artur Kolodziejski once again reached the final of the German championship with his team, the Telekom Baskets Bonn . Defending champion Alba Berlin was eliminated in the semi-finals and the team returned the favor for the defeat they suffered in the cup final. Throughout the playoffs, Kolodziejski is always entrusted with special defense tasks, which he carries out with the known high intensity. He plays a key role in preventing strong opposing players from developing.

After the end of the quarter-finals in 2010, no new contract was presented to Kolodziejski by Telekom Baskets Bonn. He is leaving the Baskets for the second time in 5 years.

Change to Munich

For the 2010/2011 season, Kolodziejski moved to Bayern Munich to help under coach Dirk Bauermann in 2011 to make it to the basketball league. This succeeded sovereignly and already a few game days before the end of the season, the championship and the consequent promotion was certain. Kolodziejski announced shortly after that he would likely end his active career with it.

After the active career

In February 2012 Artur Kolodziejski was introduced as the new head of the young academy of Ratiopharm Ulm . There he should further expand the existing structures in the promotion of young talent and create closer links between young people and professionals. He was also responsible for the club's entire concept of promoting young talent and was supposed to train various teams himself. His term of office ended in March 2016 and he wanted to turn to other professional tasks.
