Artur Lehmann
Artur "Tute" Lehmann (born July 18, 1895 in Berlin ; † January 25, 1974 ) was a German politician ( KPD / SED ) and trade unionist .
Life
Lehmann, the son of a working-class family, spent his childhood on a Spree barge. He himself worked as a gardener and furrier . From 1914 to 1917 he was a soldier in the First World War . Because anti-militarist operation, he was in 1917 to four and a half years imprisonment convicted and remained until the November Revolution in the state fortress Ingolstadt imprisoned. Lehmann took part as a delegate of the Red Soldiers' Union at the founding party conference of the KPD in Berlin.
From the end of 1918 Lehmann was employed by the railroad . As part of the KPD's "Hands Off Soviet Russia" campaign in 1920, Lehmann and other comrades formed control committees at Berlin train stations to prevent the transport of weapons and ammunition for the Polish White Guards who fought against the young Soviet state in the Polish-Soviet war . From 1923 to 1925 he was a full-time secretary of the Free Railway Association in Berlin, then head of the Red Front Fighters Association in Berlin-Mitte .
In March 1933 he was arrested and taken to a concentration camp. After his release, he emigrated to the Soviet Union via Prague in 1934 . From 1934 to 1941 he worked in Moscow as a furrier and as an instructor for the Comintern in the International Seamen's Club in Leningrad . From 1941 to 1946 he did propaganda work in various prisoner-of-war camps. In April 1946 Lehmann returned to Germany and was secretary of the SED sub-district Berlin-Mitte until August 1948. 1948/1949 he was Vice President of the Berlin People's Police ; In March 1949 he was replaced by Richard Gyptner and was then a leading functionary in the Reichsbahndirektion , first chairman of the SED party leadership at the Reichsbahn , then from 1952 to 1960 Reichsbahn director and finally head of the political administration of the Reichsbahn-Bauunion.
Lehmann received a grave of honor in the memorial of the socialists in the central cemetery Friedrichsfelde .

- Lehmann received the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver in 1958 .
Hanna Lehmann
Artur Lehmann was married to the seamstress Hanna (born October 15, 1895, † 1988) since December 1920 . She herself had been a member of the KPD since 1923. After the " seizure of power " she worked illegally for the Red Aid of Germany and the international workers' aid in the cardboard factory Gebrüder Schauerhammer in Berlin-Mitte. From 1935 to 1946 she emigrated to the Soviet Union on the instructions of the KPD state leadership. In 1976 she was also awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit. She was buried in 1988 in the central cemetery Berlin-Friedrichsfelde, Pergolenweg.
