Asbjørn Osnes (born April 21, 1932 in Hønefoss , † September 22, 2011 in Jevnaker ) was a Norwegian ski jumper .

Career

Osnes, who started for Jevnaker IF , achieved his first success at the Norwegian Championships in Trysil in 1955 , where he won the silver medal on the normal hill behind Sverre Stallvik and in front of Arnfinn Bergmann . In December of the same year he started at the Four Hills Tournament 1955/56 and jumped to 28th place in Oberstdorf . In Garmisch-Partenkirchen , he narrowly missed the podium in fifth.

At the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo , he reached 18th place on the normal hill. He did not start from the large hill. A short time after the games, he jumped to sixth place at the Norwegian Championships in Drammen in 1956 .

In the Four Hills Tournament 1956/57 Osnes competed in three of the four jumping competitions. The best placement was 10th place in Oberstdorf. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1958 , he jumped from the normal hill to fifth place. A short time later he was ninth on the normal hill at the Norwegian Championships in 1958 . In the same year he set a new hill record at Vikersundbakken with 108.5 m, which lasted two years.

In 1959 he only started internationally at Holmenkollen and reached 12th place. At the Norwegian Championships in Gjøvik in 1959 he was sixth. After a three-year break from touring, he returned to the Four Hills Tournament in 1961/62 . However, he could not build on his previous successes and missed top placings in all jumping classes. At the Norwegian Championships in Skien in 1962 , he was seventh.
