Asenham is a district and a district of Bad Birnbach in the Rottal-Inn district . Until 1972 Asenham was an independent parish, to which in addition to the parish village and parish capital Asenham, 26 other districts (villages, hamlets and wastelands) belonged.

location

Asenham is located between Triftern and Bayerbach in the Isar-Inn hill country , where the Auerbach and Hitzlinger Bach merge to form the Bleichenbach.

history

Around 1130, Wilehalmus de Ausenheim, Adelman de Asenheim, Regingerus de Azinheim and Wermout de Asenheimin met as seal witnesses. The lineage of those of Asenham can be traced from the 12th century to 1400. Her successors as owners of the Hofmark were the Neudeck taverns . At the beginning of the 15th century the property fell to Törring and in 1464 to Holup. The Ortenburgers inherited it in the 16th century . In the 17th and 18th centuries Asenham belonged successively to the Hienheim, from 1657 to the Weidingern, the Mayrau and finally the Barons of Cronegg. The castle no longer exists.

On July 1, 1972, in the course of the regional reform in Bavaria, the previously independent municipality Asenham became part of the municipality of Birnbach.

Churches

Asenham became a branch in 1859 and a parish in 1898 . The choir of the parish church St. Leonhard goes back to a former chapel from the 15th century. The nave of the neo-Gothic church was built in 1873, the tower in 1885.

The side church of St. Georg on the Hölzlberg was consecrated in 1287. The sacrament niche dates from the time it was built, the high altar is baroque. After secularization in Bavaria , the royal foundation administrator of Pfarrkirchen had this church auctioned. It was auctioned by Michael Abtmeier, farmer in the Wimm, for 210 guilders, plus the Kirchhofplatz for 48 guilders. Erich Eder published the auction protocol in the Ostbaierische Grenzmarken from 1962/63.

Shepherd dance

Since the nineteenth century, Asenham has had a shepherd's group that performs a shepherd's dance every seven years . Three Asenhamers from Munich brought their knowledge of the shepherd's dance to the dreamy village in the winding Rott- Seitental. These were the Kramer Reßlhuber and the farmer Franz Hartl, both from Asenham, as well as Alois Stöger from Sturzholz (the father of the later Asenham mayor). In 1894 the first shepherd's dance was performed in Asenham. Franz Hartl, it is said, had worked in Munich at the time and studied and recorded the dance figures carefully. Together with Reßlhuber and Stöger, performances of the Munich Schäfflertanz were visited and the necessary detailed knowledge was brought to Asenham. Since then, the performance has taken place every seven years with one exception during the Second World War .

Leonhardiritt

There used to be a Leonhardiritt here too , which was brought back to life between 1999 and 2007.
