Asim Ferhatović called Hase (born January 24, 1933 in Sarajevo , † January 25, 1987 ibid) was a Yugoslav football player.

Career

In 1948 he joined the youth department of FK Sarajevo . At the age of 17, he made the leap into the A-team .. In the season 1963/64 he was the top scorer of the Yugoslav league with 19 goals and in the season 1966/67 Yugoslav champions with FK Sarajevo, whereby the FK Sarajevo for the first time and to this day qualified once for participation in the European Champions Cup.

Ferhatović's resignation immediately after the championship shocked the football community across Sarajevo despite his old age. The following day the local newspapers ran the headline in his honor: Jedan je Hare (there is only one hare).

Ferhatović has been voted the best player in Bosnia and Yugoslavia several times. For FK Sarajevo, he played 602 games and scored 478 goals. He wore the number "9" throughout his career.

National team

For the Yugoslav national football team , he played the only time on October 8, 1961 in Belgrade against South Korea.

death

Asim Ferhatović died of a heart attack one day after his 54th birthday.

Trivia

  • The well-known music band Zabranjeno pušenje ( No Smoking) dedicated the song Nedelja, kad je otišao Hase (“The Sunday when the hare walked”) to the striker .
  • The Olympic Stadium in Sarajevo , a football school and a street in Sarajevo were named after him.
