history

The first beginnings of hospital history in Weißenfels can be traced back to before 1900. In 1938, next to the old hospital in Naumburger Strasse, the foundation stone was laid on the extension of a new, large clinic building in Weißenfels. This building was completed in 1941.

After the end of the war, the then new building was surrounded by a park-like ensemble. After the GDR was founded, the clinic was nationalized and renamed the “Clara Zetkin Hospital”.

After reunification, the Weißenfels hospital was continued to be operated by the state of Saxony-Anhalt. In 2008 the private clinic operator Asklepios took over the hospital and has been running it since then under the name “Asklepios Klinik Weißenfels”.
