Asmodeus is an Austrian black metal band that was founded in 1999.

history

Asmodeus was originally founded in 1996 by Tyr and Desdemon under the name Diabolus in Graz . The two of them recorded a few songs that can be found on the Supreme Surrender demo . In terms of style, this represented a mixture of Black and Death Metal .

In November 1999 Asmodeus played live for the first time as a support act for Thirdmoon . In January 2000 they released the first real demo under the new name, which was titled As the Winter Moon Bleeds and only offered Black Metal. The next demo, Embers of Aeon, followed in November of the same year .

At the end of the year they played for the first time outside of Graz, in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana . At the beginning of 2001 they completed more concerts in Slovenia, played as the opening act for Six Feet Under and Fleshcrawl , among others, and appeared at the Hell-on-Earth Festival.

After that, Lestat left the band and Naroth took his place. On November 24, 2003 their first album Phalanx Inferna was released , released under the record label Twilight Records , which was also released as a vinyl version on February 23, 2004 by Supreme Chaos Records . The reviews for this album were mediocre to good and praised the playful ability of the band and good song material, but criticized a certain lack of variety, too little variation in tempo and the band's lack of originality, which in this context was often compared to Dark Funeral .

In 2004 the band performed a number of festival appearances as well as individual concerts in Austria, Slovenia, Switzerland and Germany . In 2005 a tour followed in the support act of Belphegor . In March Asmodeus finally released their second album Imperium Damnatum , which again received good reviews and dark funeral comparisons. In the same month Asmodeus completed a European tour with the bands Dark Funeral , Naglfar and Aura Noir , which also led to Sweden and Denmark . In the summer the band performed again at some festivals. In the following years they played a number of live concerts at home and abroad and devoted themselves to writing new songs.

In the spring of 2017, the band began recording their 3rd studio album in the Sound Delusion Studio after 10 years of creative activity.

On December 1, 2018, the new album ADAMANT was finally released in a special version as a Woodpak (CD case specially made from wood) via the Austrian label Talheim Records. Further versions as digipak and vinyl as well as some live shows are planned.
