description
A sight in Asomatos is the nationally known Museum of Papa ('Priest') Michalis Georgoulakis . Over 60 years of contemporary history are gathered here in the form of everyday objects, posters and documents. Papa Michalis died in October 2008 and his family continues to run the museum under the name "Oriseum".
From a tourist point of view, Asomatos is a "transit village", there are only two kafenia , a pottery , a tavern during the season and a few private accommodations. The main livelihood of the inhabitants is still agriculture, especially olive cultivation in the fertile valley, which stretches from Asomatos in a south-westerly direction to the sea. A company for building and agricultural needs with an attached olive mill is the only company in town.
The Byzantine chapel "Agii Asomati" ( Greek Άγιοι Ασώματοι ), which gives the village its name , is one of the oldest and most beautiful in the region.
