Azovsky ( Ukrainian Азовське ; Russian Азовское Azovskoye ) is a village in the south of the Ukrainian Oblast of Kherson with about 2800 inhabitants.
Azovsk is located near the shore of the Utlyuk Liman of the Sea of Azov , 14 km northeast of the Henichesk district center on the T-22-09 territorial road. It is located in Henichesk Rajon and is the center of the district council of the same name to which the village of Prydoroschnje ( Придорожнє ⊙ ) with about 270 inhabitants also belongs.
The village, founded in 1820, was initially known as Juskuji (Ukrainian Юзкуї ; Russian Юзкуи , Juskui ). From 1937 to May 12, 2016 it was named Frunze (Ukrainian and Russian Фрунзе ) after the Bolshevik and Soviet military leader Mikhail Frunze . The current name refers to the location not far from the coast of the Azov Sea.
